At the start of this new year, we are continuing our series of profiles of the members of the Board of Directors, and this time it is Nadia Benchikar, assistant treasurer, who has agreed to introduce herself.

1. Introduce yourself in a few words.

My name is Nadia, I am 32 years old, and I love meeting new people and discovering new things (travel, cooking, etc.).

I have diverse origins (Brittany, Morocco, Spain) and have therefore been immersed in a mix of cultures since I was very young.

2. What dish stands out from your childhood?

It's difficult to choose just one dish, but I would say couscous with my family in Morocco. It reminds me of moments of sharing and conviviality, rare moments with my uncles, aunts, and cousins.

A dish that is always different depending on who cooks it, but still recognizable. Bursts of laughter, surprises when one of the ingredients is missing (e.g., carrots, chickpeas), discoveries with other people's couscous dishes
, regions...

3. What style or artist from around the world would you recommend we listen to? How did you discover them?

It's not easy for me to answer because I listen to all kinds of music: from classical to Hindu, Latin, Eastern, and rock. I just go with whatever I feel like listening to at the moment.

4. Which story/book/legend has had a lasting impact on you and why?

The Barzaz Breiz given to me by my grandfather, which recounts Breton legends (as a mother, I would like to emphasize that the choice of books for children is very important because we have to read the stories to them hundreds of times and they have the same impact on them each time).

6. What would you say to someone considering joining the association?

Join us for a rewarding experience that will take you on a journey.

5. Why did you get involved with Konstelacio, and what are your hopes for its future?

I joined the association because it embodies values that are important to me and because its message resonates with me personally. Despite all the technology we have at our disposal, we realize that some people are still not open to other cultures, even thoughhistorically we are all connected. Coming from a diverse background, it seemed natural to me to advocate for the importance of intercultural dialogue and diversity.

BONUS QUESTIONS

What value do you want to convey?

Respect for others, solidarity, because just because we are different does not mean we should not help and support each other!

A ritual that suits you?

Cooking as a family and eating together whenever possible. It's an opportunity to discover new recipes and share a moment together. Basically, Sunday dinner, but whenever possible, because you don't have to wait until Sunday to do this.

A symbol that suits you?

A book, because I love reading. Books are a way to share moments with others, but they are also objects that allow you to travel to different worlds, each more varied than the last.

Is there a hero you would like to be like?

I don't have a hero in mind because there are so many who are far too stereotypical for my taste.
Rather, it's a desire to be like them in many years' time. Annarita Mabellini , attentive to the world, kind (devoted to her grandchildren, refugees, etc.), always planning a new trip, comfortable in her own skin.
